HeadUp Collar
The HeadUp collar was originally designed to help in the treatment of neck muscle weakness caused by Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The success of the HeadUp collar for MND has resulted in many other conditions which present with muscle weakness being treated with the collar.

What are the design advantages of a HeadUp Collar?
The HeadUp collar design is unique as the user or carer can easily increase or decrease the amount of support the collar offers. The collar is adjusted by adding or removing supportive strips of flexible thermoplastic. These strips can be easily fitted onto the collar with velcro, to target the area of the neck which requires additional support. This is useful as muscle fatigue sets in, or as the condition progresses

What is the process for having an assessment for a HeadUp collar?
The first step is to contact us to arrange an initial consultation at either one of our clinics or at home. One of our experienced HCPC and BAPO registered orthotists will take a full medical history, physical examination of the neck and discuss the goals of treatment.
If the orthotist deems that HeadUp is a suitable solution then measurements of the neck will be taken and a device ordered. When the device arrives the orthotist will advise the user, family and carers how to fit and adjust the neck collar to achieve the best results. A complimentary review appointment is included to ensure the goals of treatment have been met.
