Protective Face Masks

Protective face masks are most frequently used for any sports person wanting to safely return to action following a recent facial injury or surgery. The face masks are designed to protect the injury by redistributing any unexpected impact to other parts of the face.

Liverpool Orthotics only offer custom made protective face masks as we believe this is the only way to truly protect the area of the face that requires relief.

Protective face masks are commonly used to provide protection for:

  • Broken nose
  • Broken cheek bone
  • Facial Fractures
  • Heavy bruising

How long does it take to have a protective face mask made?

Liverpool Orthotics understand how important it is to get a professional sports person back in action as soon as physically possible. In normal circumstances we can manufacture a protective face mask in 48 hours after the scan has been taken.

What is the face mask made of?

Protective face masks are usually made of carbon fibre due to its strong but incredibly lightweight properties. Liverpool Orthotics have access to a range of materials to make truly bespoke products which we can be tailored to suit any presentation of injury. The face masks are secured with two comfortable silicon type straps.

What is the process to having a mask made?

First, book an appointment for an assessment with one of our experienced HCPC and BAPO registered orthotists. The orthotist will take details of the type injury and discuss the best solution to protect the offending area. A scan will then be taken of the whole head and face. A suitable fitting appointment will then be arranged to supply the protective face mask.
